Should you even be doing CRO?

Here's a controversial thing to say as a "CRO guy"...

Not every brand should be doing CRO.

Yet it's become "in-thing" right now...

You've likely seen Twitter posts, Shopify screenshots, and LinkedIn threads, all flexing crazy CRO results...

This makes brands who are not doing CRO feel like they are missing out.

But for the majority of brands (brands who are NOT getting at least a 100K sessions on their store a month)...

"Doing CRO" won't move the needle for them.

This is because...

If you haven’t nailed your offer, messaging, or UX yet…

You’re not ready to optimize your whole store.

Your focus should always go on what will generate the highest uplift.

So sharpen your focus...

Build one landing page to convert cold traffic:
→ Dial it in
→ Let it become your control
→ Use it to learn what works – and what doesn't.

Try this today:

  • Look at what page most of your traffic is going to.
  • Write down three things you can improve on that page to try to improve results.
  • Test them one at a time.
  • Repeat this every month.
